A top-up adds data to your line without changing your plan. It's the option if you've used your high speed allowance and don't want to wait for your next cycle.
When a top-up is worth it
You've hit your high speed allowance, your speed has dropped, and you have something specific you need to do at full speed before your cycle resets. If your cycle resets in a day or two, waiting costs nothing.
If you're running out every month
Repeated top-ups usually mean the plan is wrong rather than the month being unusual. Moving from Flex Standard to Flex Unlimited may cost less than topping up regularly.
How to buy one
- Sign in at portal.getflexmobile.com.
- Open the Subscriptions tab and select the line that needs the data. Top-ups are bought per line, not for the whole account.
- Find Order more data.
- Choose the amount you want from the Top up amount list. Several sizes are offered, and the price is shown next to each one.
- Confirm. The data is added to that line.
Choosing the right size
Top-ups come in a range of sizes, and the larger ones cost less per gigabyte. Current sizes and prices are shown in the list when you order. Check your usage first, since you may need less than you think.
Two things worth knowing
A top-up adds data only. It doesn't add calls or texts, and it doesn't change anything else about your plan.
Top-up data resets on the first of the calendar month, while your plan renews on the anniversary of your activation date. Those two dates are usually different, so a top-up bought late in the month may not last as long as you expect.
Before you buy
Top-up purchases are final. They can't be refunded, transferred, exchanged, resold or converted to cash, even if you never use the data. Check your current usage first so you're buying the amount you actually need.
Check your usage first
See the article on checking your data usage. It takes a moment and often shows you're closer to your reset date than you thought.
