Wifi calling places your calls over a wifi network instead of the mobile network. It's included on every Flex Mobile plan and it's the best fix for weak signal at home or at work.
When it helps
Basements, thick walled buildings, rural areas, and anywhere your phone shows one bar but the wifi is fine. Calls and texts go over wifi and sound normal.
Turn it on, iPhone
- Open Settings and tap Apps, then Phone. On older iOS versions, tap Phone directly from the main Settings list.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
- Turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Enter or confirm your emergency address when asked, then accept.
- Your status bar shows Flex Mobile Wi-Fi when a call would use wifi.
Turn it on, Android
- Open Settings.
- Go to Network & internet, or Connections on Samsung phones.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling and turn it on. On some phones it sits inside the Calls or Mobile network menu.
- Enter or confirm your emergency address if asked.
- A wifi calling icon appears in your status bar when it's in use.
Why the address matters
Emergency services can't locate a wifi call the way they can a mobile call, so the address you enter is what's passed to them. Keep it accurate and update it if you move.
If it won't turn on
Make sure your line is fully active and you're connected to wifi, then restart the phone. If the option is missing entirely, install any pending software update and check again.
