Resetting network settings clears your phone's saved network configuration and lets it set itself up from scratch. It fixes a lot of stubborn connection problems, and it's safe, but it does erase some things.
What it erases
- All saved wifi networks and their passwords.
- Paired Bluetooth devices.
- VPN settings, and the APN, which is the mobile data setting your phone configures by itself.
- Preferred network settings.
It does not erase your photos, messages, apps or contacts.
Before you start
Make sure you know your home and work wifi passwords, because you'll be reconnecting to every network afterward.
On iPhone
- Open Settings and tap General.
- Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset, then Reset Network Settings.
- Enter your passcode and confirm. Your iPhone restarts by itself.
- After it restarts, reconnect to your wifi network. Flex Mobile appears in your status bar with signal bars.
On Android
- Open the Settings app, the gray cog icon.
- On a Samsung, scroll down and tap General management. On a Pixel or most other Android phones, scroll down and tap System.
- Tap Reset, or Reset options.
- Tap Reset network settings, then tap the Reset settings button at the bottom.
- Enter your screen passcode if you're asked for it, then confirm. Your phone applies the reset and may restart.
- Reconnect to your wifi network and check that mobile data works.
Afterward
Reconnect to your wifi networks, re-pair any Bluetooth devices, and turn wifi calling back on if you use it.
If the problem persists
A reset that changes nothing points at something other than your phone's configuration. Contact Flex Mobile support with your phone model and what you've tried.
