Setting up a new Android phone on Flex Mobile works the same on every manufacturer, even though the menu names differ. Get the phone running first, then add your Flex Mobile line.
Before you start
- Your phone unlocked and charged.
- A wifi connection, since your Flex Mobile data isn't live on this phone yet.
- Your Google Account details.
- Your Flex Mobile eSIM QR code.
Set up the phone
- Turn the phone on and follow the on screen setup.
- Connect to wifi when asked.
- Choose whether to copy apps and data from another phone or start fresh. Most Android phones can copy from an old phone with a cable or wirelessly.
- Sign in with your Google Account.
- Finish setup. You land on the home screen.
Add your Flex Mobile line
Follow the Android eSIM activation guide. If you are an existing member still using a physical SIM card, move it across instead.
Once the line is added, Flex Mobile appears in your status bar with signal bars.
Check it works
- Make a call to a number you know.
- Send a text.
- Turn wifi off for a moment and open a webpage to confirm mobile data is working.
- Turn wifi back on.
If something doesn't connect
Restart the phone first. If Flex Mobile still doesn't appear, work through the No SIM troubleshooter.
If Flex Mobile doesn't appear
Restart the phone and wait a couple of minutes. If it's still missing, work through the eSIM install troubleshooter, then contact support if that doesn't clear it.
