Before spending an hour troubleshooting your phone, it's worth ruling out an outage in your area. Here's how to tell the difference.
Signs it's an outage rather than your phone
- Other people near you on the same network are also affected.
- It started suddenly with no change to your phone.
- Restarting and toggling airplane mode change nothing at all.
- Your phone works normally as soon as you move to another area.
Test with a second device
If someone nearby is on the same network, compare. Two phones with the same problem in the same place is a strong sign the problem isn't your phone.
Rule out your own phone first
- Turn airplane mode on for ten seconds, then off.
- Restart your phone.
- Move outdoors and wait a minute.
- If your phone reconnects in a different area, the issue is local coverage rather than your device.
Ask Flex Mobile
There's no public status page to check, so contacting support is the way to find out. Give them your zip code and roughly when it started. They can see network status in a way you can't from the phone.
While you wait it out
Turn on wifi calling if you haven't already. During a mobile network outage, wifi calling often keeps working, since your calls travel over your internet connection instead.
If it turns out not to be an outage
If support confirms the network is fine in your area, work through the no signal article, then contact support again with what you tried and what changed.
