Checking your usage tells you whether a slowdown is your allowance or something else, and whether a top-up is worth buying. There are two places to look.
In the My Flex Mobile app
The quickest way. Open the app and your data usage for the current cycle is shown on your account. This is what the app is best at.
For one line
- Sign in at portal.getflexmobile.com.
- Open the Subscriptions tab.
- Select the line you want to check.
- The Usage panel on the right shows how much data has been used out of your allowance, along with dialed calls, total call length and sent texts. Underneath it tells you the date your allowance renews.
For the whole account
The Overview tab shows your total usage since your most recent invoice, across every line on the account.
One thing worth knowing
Your data usage is updated once a day, not in real time. If you've just watched something long, the figure won't move until the next update. That's normal, and it's worth remembering before you buy extra data you may not need.
What you're looking for
Flex Standard includes 5 GB a month, and the data stops when it runs out. Flex Unlimited runs at full speed to 35 GB in a cycle and Flex Unlimited Plus to 50 GB, then the speed is reduced until the cycle renews. You're never charged extra on any plan.
Your phone's own counter
Both iPhone and Android track data usage in their settings, broken down by app, which is useful for finding what's actually consuming it. Be aware their counter runs on a different period from your Flex Mobile cycle unless you reset it manually, so use it to find the culprit rather than to judge how much allowance you have left.
If you're close to your allowance
- Check how many days are left in your cycle. If it resets soon, waiting costs nothing.
- Switch to wifi wherever you can.
- Turn off automatic app updates and cloud backups on mobile data.
- Buy a top-up if you genuinely need full speed before the reset.
If the figure looks wrong
Remember it updates once a day, so it always lags a little behind what you've actually used. If it still looks wrong the following day, contact Flex Mobile support with the dates you're asking about.
